Soccer Frequently Asked Questions
What age child can play soccer?
U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U19. For example: U6 means "Under 6" and children that are 4 and 5 can play. Children wanting to play U6 must have turned 4 by August 1st of this year. Also, children can not have turned 6 before August 1st. This is the youngest group, so there is no group for children under 4 years old.
What area do I have to live in for my child to be eligable to play at Eastern League?
You must live within the area zoned for Cove Park. To check the map go to the city website at www.hsvcity.com/recreation/
When I register at the park what do I need to bring?
A check for $70, a copy of your child's birth certificate and proof of residency. Forms to fill out will be provided.
When is the Deadline for registration?
August 4th is the last day to sign up. If you mail in your registration and it arrives later than this. Your child will be placed on a waiting list. If spots are available they will be placed on a first come first serve basis.
When will Players start practice and start Games?
Practice will start as soon after registration as teams can be put together (that is why the deadline must be enforced) and Coaches can contact their teams. This should be approximately the second or third week in August. Games will start the week after Labor Day.
When and Where will games be played?
U6 and U8 play at Cove Park. Games will be played Saturday mornings and with a possible game on a weeknight either, Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. There is NO Wednesday, Friday or Sunday play.
U10 and other age groups will play at Cove Park as well as other parks around the city. |
