Jackson 7, Mobile Westside 6; Jackson defeated Mobile Westside in the first championship game to claim the Alabama State Championship. In doing so they earned a birth in the Southeastern Regional in Ceredo-Kenova, West Virginia. Jacob Sullivan entered the game in the fifth and eventually earned the win for Jackson. The game winning hit came in the top of the sixth on a solo home run by Jerel Foreman. Foreman crushed a pitch over the left field fence to put Jackson on top for good. Sullivan then closed out the game, holding Westside scoreless in the bottom of the sixth. Matthew Cook and Dylan Crutcher both had home runs for Westside. Branson Audette had two hits in the game including a double late in the game to give Westside a chance to tie the game. Fans are encouraged to track Jackson as they move on to the Regional. The next game will be Saturday, August, 8, 2009, at 4:00 pm EDT vs. Florida. The Southeastern Regional championship game will be televised by ESPN on Friday, August, 14 at 8:00 pm EDT.
